A day out in Droitwich
Like Churchill, Lord Phiilips tried his hand at bricklaying.

It looks like one of those immposible 3d drawings.
He was using up all the villages left over bricks to practice with by the looks.
Chad Doveton: You can tell that they got cheaper as he worked his way up, Aussie.
..erm...did Churchill do the first rows and did His Lordship finish the job, well, it still stands or is Angela at the back of this wall keeping it from not falling....
just wondering no abut it all day. Goedermorgen trouwens, ik heb weer eens een foto op SC gezet....misschien vind je hem mooi??? prettig weekend.
Chad Doveton: Laughing out loud at Angela holding the wall up. His lordship bought cheap bricks to finish it.
I 'spect one of these days I will look at his handiwork with my own eyes, Chad. Do you think that can be arranged??
Chad Doveton: All things can be arranghed by the Stooges, Ginnie.
Can't get the damned staff these days. Have to do everything m'self!!
It's interesting to see your take on somewhere that is so familiar to me.
Chad Doveton: Thank you, Bill. And Ginnie has requested to see it first hand.
Fabulously awful!
Chad Doveton: Hmm we agree then.
I never knew that about Churchill. He didn't do a very good job, did he? (Lord Phillips, not Churchill)
Ingrid
Chad Doveton: I think Churchill did quite a good job building a garden wall at Chartwell. http://www.chu.cam.ac.uk/archives/about/home_files/bricks.jpg
Bricklaying bah! Southern softie! Should try his hand at drystone walling - now that's a real man's wall ;o)
Chad Doveton: Now you're talking Cotswold craft, Mike. They don't have dry stone walls up north do they? I thought they used piles of dung.
Is that a pretend chimney on the right?
Chad Doveton: I've actually no idea, Ian.
I always admire good handworking, like Bill has done (Isn't tim Hitchins a traditional bricklayer? He could help him!), and this may be a kind of strength indeed (cf. SC-day-theme as I read)! Building up in which way ever -of as politician or teacher or gardner or doctor or photographer or...- is always a very constructive kind of life-work -but your pic makes me rather curious: What can be seen after the brickstones-wall? A nice piece of castle-and-garden- architecture cranes its neck!
Chad Doveton: It's is strange to say the least, Philine. (third day running I have not written Philline. I'm feeling quite smug). I think Tim is definately required here.
sorry: behind the wall
Chad Doveton: I understood what you meant Philine. 'After' is quite acceptable but 'behind' is better. Your comand of English has to be admired, Philine.
Allo Chad...I keep seeing these pictures and I really, really want to go to Droitwich..........
Chad Doveton: Just wait until we go to the town, Ada, you will be drooling at the mouth. (In the nicest possible way of course).
If you look closely you will see it was at least 4 generations of Lords Phillips.
